Road Safety

Morville Parish Council have instigated and financed a number of road safety improvements which have contributed towards our long-term goal of slowing traffic through our villages and hamlets. In April 2024, after many years of lobbying, a 40-mph speed limit was finally installed in Weston. In August 2025 a Speed Indicator Device (SID) was installed on the A458 on the Bridgnorth side of Morville, and white gates were placed at both boundaries of the village on the A458. In early June 2026 a second SID  was placed at the Much Wenlock end of Morville. These improvements have not only reduced the speed of through traffic, but the cameras provide traffic speed data which is analysed and can be used for future decision making. Morville Parish Council are grateful for the invaluable know how and assistance received from our community, in particular to Coll Macdonald, whose help in bringing these projects to fruition has been invaluable; and for the funding of the SID project by West Mercia Commissioner John Campion’s Grant Scheme.
