that a vacancy has occurred in the office of
Councillor for Morville Parish Council
Following the resignation of Cllr.Rebecca Smith
Rule 5(2) of The Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) (England and Wales) Rules, 2006 now applies.
The rule allows TEN ELECTORS for the parish in which the casual vacancy has arisen to request the Returning Officer to hold an election to fill the vacancy. That request must be made within FOURTEEN DAYS, calculated in accordance with the rules of the date of this notice.
The fourteen-day period ends on 15th June, 2021
What if a request to hold an election is not received during the permitted time?
Rule 5(5) of the above Rules will apply. The Parish Council must, as soon as practicable after the expiry of the fourteen-day period, co-opt a person to fill the vacancy.

We now have the outcome of the High Court Judgement on remote meetings which means that Town and Parish Councils may only hold remote meetings up to and including Thursday 6th May. From Friday 7th May, Councils must meet face to face. If your parish council wishes to call a remote meeting prior to the deadline, please bear in mind that Sundays and Bank Holiday cannot be included in the ‘three clear days’ but Saturdays can.
Responding to today’s judgement in the High Court on holding remote meetings, Cllr Sue Baxter, chair of the National Association of Local Councils (NALC), said:
“I am extremely disappointed that the application to the High Court regarding remote meetings has been dismissed.
“All councils must now return to holding physical meetings from 7 May. This includes around 2,000 local (parish and town) councils with elections who must hold an annual meeting in May following those elections.
“Such physical meetings, to which all members of the public are entitled to attend, will result in both a health risk given the current pandemic and significant additional costs incurred by councils in securing suitable venues which allow social distancing and other safety measures.
“Over the last year, the ability to hold remote meetings has delivered extensive benefits including leading to increased participation and engagement by members of the public with their most local council and the decisions they make about their local areas from tackling climate change to improving health and well being and the provision of highly valued local services.
“Given the government’s apparent support for allowing remote meetings, including their evidence to the Court Hearing, I am appealing to ministers to pull out all the stops over the coming days and weeks to introduce the necessary primary legislation. The Scottish and Welsh Governments have already passed legislation to allow for remote meetings and I urge the Government to follow their lead.”

Make sure you have it downloaded on your phone and know how to

In February, the Parish Council started to supply free packs of SmartWater to each household in the Parish. During the Lockdown, the Police have kindly co-operated by posting some packs direct to residents, however a few have been returned as ‘not known at this address’. If you have not received your pack please e.mail the Parish Clerk with your name and address and one will be sent to you.

Local GP practices are working together to offer patients more access to appointments, in the early evenings and weekends, from Monday, 1 October, 2018. NHS Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is rolling out the national initiative called Extended Access to offer more appointments to local people. It recently held a survey and used the feedback from local people to help shape Extended Access for Shropshire.
Part of the national agenda by NHS England, Extended Access means patients will be able to book appointments to see a GP, practice nurse, or other qualified healthcare professional,
at a time which may be more convenient – in the evenings, at the weekend and during bank holidays.
Nicky Wilde, Director of Primary Care at NHS Shropshire CCG, said: “We understand how important accessibility to appointments can be – 9 to 5 doesn’t always work for everyone. This is where Extended Access can really benefit members of our local community – it offers choice and enables patients to have more flexibility around when they can access the care they need.
“Extended Access also adds to the existing range of healthcare services already available in Shropshire to help patients including pharmacists, NHS 111, the walk-in centre, minor injury units, and A&E (which is there 24/7 for life threatening serious emergencies only).”
In Shropshire, local practices will work together in a network of ‘hubs’ to provide this Extended Access service. This will ensure patients can access appointments at a nearby practice in their local area – the practices will take turns on a rota basis and patients will be advised about location at time of booking, so they can make an informed choice.
The pre-bookable appointments will be available between:
- Weekday evenings (Monday to Friday)
between 6.30pm and 8pm (at a local area hub)
- Saturdays between 8am and 1pm (at a local area hub)
- Sundays and bank holidays between 8.30am and 12.30pm (at a single site in central Shrewsbury)
Arranging a pre-bookable evening, weekend or bank holiday appointment is easy to do – patients simply need to contact their practice (who they are currently registered with), during
normal opening hours, and speak to the practice receptionist or a member of the practice team who will be able to help. Appointments may not be with your registered GP but will be
with a GP or other qualified healthcare professional.

A458 Improvement works have started.
Improvement works on the A458 Bridgnorth bypass started on Tuesday 11 July 2017.
The work on the A458 and the roundabout approaches between the A458/B4373 (Wenlock Road) junction and the Stourbridge Road roundabout are due to finish by 10 November.
A 20mph temporary speed limit has been placed on the works extents for the duration of the scheme. This speed reduction is in place to protect both the contractors workforce, but also to give added safety to the motoring public.
Since the 11th July Shropshire Council’s contractors have been working on the Bridgnorth River Severn Bridge and on the Stourbridge Road and Kidderminster Road Roundabouts. These works will continue for the next two weeks.
Works to the bridge are ongoing, concrete testing is currently being carried out on the bridge deck from the underside of the bridge, however works to the bridge parapets on the topside of the bridge will begin requiring two way traffic signals to be in place from the 24th July for approx. 1 week.
Concurrently work will continue to both roundabouts. Traffic Management will be in place on the roundabouts at different times to enable the contractor to carry out excavation in a safe manner. Only one roundabout will be under traffic signals at any one time and works will be phased to avoid the signals on Bridgnorth Bridge. This work will last another 2 weeks.
Looking further ahead at road closure dates, it is intended that a series of weekday, but night time closures will be in place from 4th September, extending well into October to enable the resurfacing works and bridge deck joint replacement works.
Final resurfacing of the Ludlow Road and Kidderminster Road roundabouts require 24 hour road closures where half of each roundabout will be closed to enable curing of the surfacing material. These are currently planned for midweek days during mid-September. Further and more specific details will be released nearer the time when dates are more firmly programmed.

Following a traffic collision earlier this year, extensive damage was caused to a safety barrier at Faintree. As a safety measure, temporary traffic signals have been in place since the incident whilst a new barrier has been both designed and manufactured. In order to install the new barrier, the road will need to be closed for a short period. This has been planned for 8 May to 12 May 2017. The section of the B4364 to be closed will be between the Bridgnorth bypass roundabout adjoining the A458 to Neenton. The road will only be closed during the day between the hours of 9:30am and 4pm, and a signed diversion route will be in place.
Shropshire Council will also be undertaking other works along this road during the road closure, including carriageway patching and drainage repairs. This will not only result in all the works being completed in one go but will also avoid the need for further road closures, and therefore minimise future disruption to the network.
